ahhh possibilities

I read this quote on Dramalish's blog today, and thought it applied so perfectly to IF...

If I were to wish for anything, I should not wish for wealth and power, but for the passionate sense of the potential, for the eye which, ever young and ardent, sees the possible. Pleasure disappoints, possibility never. And what wine is so sparkling, what so fragrant, what so intoxicating, as possibility!
-Soren Kierkegaard

The way I see it, while on this journey, if we stop thinking about the what ifs, or the possibility of a baby at the end of the journey, the journey is already over. I keep the mental image of what I think our kids will be like (it actually made me a bit weepy to reread that post...) in the back of my head, and don't let it go.

  1. That's a beautiful quote, and keeping hold of the dream means a lot. I guess I've seen this from kind of the other way - if I think in terms of possible babies and am always disappointed, all my happiness will be tied up in what can never be. The possibility I want to imagine is a happy future - because I can't hang on any more to the belief that it will include a baby :(. But I applaud your holding on to the dream. I think I would, if I were tough enough to.
